By Our Staff Reporter 2015-06-04
LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched an important project to check fraud in property dealing with the cooperation of the Punjab Information Technology Board.

The project is aimed at eliminating sale and purchase of fake stamp papers, making their online verification through mobile phones or internet. This was stated by Board of Revenue Senior Member Nadeem Ashraf at a seminar here on Wednesday.

He said the process of verification of stamp papers of Rs1,000 and above would begin in Lahore next week. After its success here, the system would be extended all over the province. He said that 32-A challan form would also be available online for depositing stamp paper fee or duty.

He said earlier people had to visit the treasury office for verification of a stamp paper, which was a complicated and non-transparent process riddled with complaints of fraud and sale and purchase of fake stamp papers. He added that now through modern technology, speedy and trouble-free services would be available to people.

The cooperatives department secretary said forgery would be eliminated through this project and government receipts increase.

Shortcomings of the revenue department would be removed and people would be rid of property-related litigation and disputes.
