LAHORE: Dark clouds, wind and occasional rain made Wednesday a climatic oasis in an otherwise extremely hot peak summer month of June.

Maximum temperature in the city was 35 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius at the airport against the 39 degrees usually at this time of the month.

The highest maximum temperature in recent history of the city was 48 degrees Celsius in 1999. The lowest maximum was 18 degrees Celsius in 1977.

The pleasant weather in real meaning of the term made it easy for people to bear the repeated power loadshedding.

The Met department recorded almost similar weather conditions in different parts of the country due to a westerly wave that generated rain and windstorms.

Rawalakot received 41mm of rain, Murree 28mm, Kakul 11mm, Lower Dir 8mm and Lahore 7mm. Several cities in Sindh such as Hyderabad, Badin and Mohenjodaro too received rain.

More rain and strong winds are expected in the next 24 hours in most of the country.
