MANSEHRA: The agriculture experts have advised people of Kohistan to grow high quality seeds to get maximum yield of wheat, maize and other crops to enhance their livelihood resources.

`We have been providing the seeds, experimented by agriculture scientists, to suit our lands and the use of these would not only increase yield but also provide a delicious taste in consumption,` said Mohammad Naseem, the director agriculture department of Kohistan, while speaking at a workshop in Dasu on Wednesday.

He said the provincial government had been working out a plan to increase the livelihood resources of farmers of remote areas, and which was why such seeds were being introduced to almost double the yield.

`We are well aware of the fact that agriculture is backbone of our economy and if we don`t shun the traditional and outdated ways of farming we would miss list of countries which have been earning foreign exchange through innovations in agriculture sector, said Mr Naseem.

He also advised farmers to ensure regular spray of pesticides to improve yield.
