Disruption of PTI meeting Sialkot DC, DPO among five officers booked

NAROWAL: A Sialkot court ordered registradon of a case against ñve ofñcers, including the deputy commissioner (DC) and the district police officer (DPO) for disrupting a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
In the Sialkot district, PTI leader Hamid Raza, an MLA of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K), filed an application for registration of a case on May 18, against the district administration for obstructing a political meeting on May 14, ransacking the auditorium, damaging chairs and LEDs, tearing down flexes, besides torturing and arresting some PTI activists.
In a petition filed under Section 22A/22B with Sialkot district and sessions judge, Mr Raza had stated that action should also be taken againstPunjab inspector general of police, Gujranwala regional police officer, Sialkot district police officer, Muradpur station house officer, Sialkot DC, additional deputy commissioner, revenue, and assistant commissioner in accordance with the law.
The judge, Munir Hussain Gul, while hearing the petition, ruled on the preliminary reports, declaring the steps taken by the DC and DPO illegal.
The court directed the Gujranwala RPO to register an FIR against the DC, DPO, SHO, ADCR and AC.
After the court verdict, the petitioner told Dawn that the district administration officials acted like goons and resorted to violence and arrests of activists causing panic among the participants of the party meeting.
`The court has given us justice by upholding merit,` he said.
