Six of a family killed in Babusar road accident

MANSEHRA/GILGIT: Six members of a family, including two women and two children, were killed when their car plunged into a deep ravine in Babusar top area of Kaghan Valley on Sunday.

The car on way back to Hunza from Rawalpindi skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine after the driver while negotiating a sharp turn lost control over the steering.

Local people rushed to scene and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.

According to police, two of the victims were identified as Mohammad Liaqat and his wife, Mehar Bano.

The National Highway Authority reopened Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road to traffic, last week, allowing only light traffic to ply on the narrow strip, heavily damaged by landslides.

Meanwhile, the bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Diamer, from where they would be dispatched to their native areas after completion of legal formalities.

According to the GB police, the victims were on their way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi via the Babusar road.

As per the initial reports those who lost lives in the accident belonged to Nagar district of GB, who were living in Islamabad.

The victims were going to their homes to celebrate Eid.

Police said the victims were identified as Mohammad Liaqat Ali, his wife Mehar Bano, their two children; ljilal Hussain and his Chinese wife, Rina.

This was the fifth accident occurred on the road during the past one month due to its dilapidated condition.

Thousands of travelers usually risk their lives while travelling on the route passing through mountainous region.
