People throng bazaars to buy famous Charsadda footwear, sweetmeat

CHARSADDA: People from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been arriving in large numbers in the Charsadda Bazaar here to purchase famous Charsadda Chappal, traditional Razar Mithai (sweetmeat) and Moti Chawal (locally produced rice) ahead of Eidul Fitr.
Apart from local residents, visitors from Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Nowshera and rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have thronged the bazaar to buy food items and clothes for Eid.
For the shoppers, Sunday was a pleasant day as heavy rain brought the temperature down in the district. The people also visited Sardarayb River to enjoy boating and bathing.
A great rush of customers was seen at the stalls of Moti Chawal, Charsadda Chappal and Razar Mithai, the latter being the deli-cacies served to guests on the occasions like Eid.
Charsadda Chappalis popular among people who wear it on the occasions like Eid and weddings.
Shopkeepers told Dawn that they had made special arrangements to attract customers for new designs of Charsadda Chappal.
They said the footwear was affordable for a common man, adding one pair of Chappal was available from Rs1,000 to Rs3,000. The Chappal traders said during the current season demand for `Imran Khan Chappal` was also very high, which was priced at Rs5,000 in the market.
The customers said they enjoyed shopping in Charsadda Bazaar as they got a variety in footwear and clothes. However, they said the markets in Charsadda were congested due to encroachments on roads and footpaths. They said they were trou-bled while parking their vehicles.
They demanded of the district administration to make alternative arrangements for vehicle parking and also remove encroachments from roads and footpaths.
THREE KILLED: Three people were killed and three others were injured in different incidentshere onSunday.
Police said three persons identified as Mir Wali, Gul Yar and Rasool Khan resorted to firing at each other after arguing over purchase of ice in Itki area of Shabgadar.
However, the shots fired by them hit three passersby identified as Saeedur Rehman, Haroon and Kaki, critically injuring them. They were shifted to THQ hospital where Saeedur Rehman succumbed to his wounds.
Sabgadar police registered case against the accused and started investigation.
