SUKKUR: A large number of villagers belonging to Mahar community held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday, demanding immediate arrest of the killers of their relative.

The protesters led by Habibullah Mahar, Altaf Hussain Mahar and others told media persons that their relative Ellahi Bux Mahar of Pano Akil was killed “in punishment” for tying the knot with Ms Zeba Thaheem who had married him of her own free will in a court of law in Sukkur. She was a resident of Sangrar near Pano Akil.

They said that a day before Eid, 10 suspects who belonged to Thaheem community, including Hyder Ali, Mohammad Yousuf, Abdullah and others, attacked Ellahi Bux and killed him.

They lodged an FIR at Jhangro police station against the suspects but police were not taking any action against them while the suspects were threatening them to withdraw the case.

They demanded Sindh IGP, DIG of Sukkur range, SSP and other higher authorities order immediate arrest of the suspects and provide safety and security to the victim’s family.
