LAHORE: One hundred moharars have been appointed at the police stations in the provincial metropolis after completing one-month refresher course in public dealing, information technology initiatives, police rules, court matters and administration of police stations.
They completed the course at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.
In a statement on Monday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Haider Ashraf said senior police officers, judges, psychologists and IT experts had delivered lectures during the refresher course. He said the course was a part of the project of introducing new well-trained and professional leadershipfor Lahore Police.
Refresher courses were being to improve policing and the police had trained stationhouse officers, head constables and moharars.
The DIG added the department would train 100 more young policemen for moharar`s posts in the next phase while adding the step would help changing Thana culture and day-to-day working and dealing with public at the police stations.
Superintendent of Police Headquarters Atif Nazir said the refresher courses were started to build the capacity of policemen. He said they were given training in the use of modern technologies, including mobile phone apphcadonsand gadgets being used to keep a check on crimes.
