2016-08-04
CHAKWAL: Two brothers allegedly shot their uncle`s killer and his nephew in Kallar Kahar on Tuesday.

According to police sources and villagers, Azhar and Hassan Abbas` paternal uncle was shot by Mohammad Bashir 37 years ago in the Maira Thirchak village, within the Kallar Kahar police station`s jurisdiction, before either of the brothers was born.

They said animosity over a petty matter developed between Faiz Ali Shah and Ghulam Ali, and in 1979 Shah and his brother in law, Bashir, were travelling on foot near the village when they met Ali and his friend Ghulam Abbas, who lived in the Bhoun village. They said both parties exchanged harsh words, and then Mohammad Bashir opened fire on Ali. Ali died on the spot, after which Bashir and Shah took Abbas to a nearby wooded area and killed him as well.

Bashir, who was Rangers personnel, was imprisoned, but was later released by the court and reinstated. During his employment, Bashir did not return to the village, and instead resided in Karachi and Hyderabad.

He retired seven years ago and moved back to the village.

After Ali`s murder, his widow married his younger brother Ghulam Mehdi, and they had two sons, Azhar and Hassan. The brothers were previously imprisoned for shooting and injuring Bashir a few years ago, but a settlement between the two families was later reached.

On Tuesday, Bashir, 59, and his nephew Tariq Hussain, 50, came to Kallar Kahar to draw their pensions from the post office when they were allegedly ambushed by the two brothers, who opened fire on time. Bashir died on the spot, while Hussain died at a local hospital.-Our Correspondent
