Ringleader of kidnappers` gang arrested in Karak

KARAK: Police here have arrested an alleged ringleader of kidnappers` gang involved in the killing of guard of district and sessions judge, Islamabad, and kidnapping of three relatives of then Karak assistant commissioner Ataul Munim.

According to a police statement, a special police party arrestedthe allegedringleaderofkidnappersgroupduringa raid on his house. He was identified as Rafiullah, a resident of Mirawas Banda of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil.

It said that the accused was involved in lifting of official car (ICT GS 602) of the district and sessions judge banking court, Islamabad, Shahid Shafique in 2013. It said that later his guard Ghulam Fareed and another policeman Shah Khalid, who had come to Karak for collecting information about the car, were 1(idnapped by the accused from Soney Tower area in Takht-i-Nusrati.

It was stated that body of Ghulam Fareed was later found in a deserted place in Domail, FR Bannu, while Shah Khalid was recovered by the police during an encounter with the kidnappers.

The statement said that Rafiullah had also kidnapped three relatives of Ataul Munim in 2014 who were recovered from a hideout after 22 days by the Karak police.

District police officer Mian Naseeb Jan claimed in the statement that 11 members of this kidnappers group had been arrested so far while two were still at large.

TRAINING CENTRE: Local councillors and students of the lone technical training centre of the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC), Karak, have shown resentment over its decision to close down the centre.

They threatened to launch a protest movement if the decision was not reversed.

Speaking at press conference here on Wednesday, district councillor and local general secretary of Pakhtunl(hwa Milli Awami Party, Rafiullah Khattak, worl(ers` representative Naveed and students of the centre said that the technical centre was established by OGDCL in 2006 to give skill-based education to youths of Karak in the field of oil and gas exploration.

They said that so far over 1,000 youths had completed their one year diploma in oil and gas exploration from the centre and they were performing their services in OGDCL. They said that instead of closing down the centre it should be elevated to a technical college to start three-year diploma courses in the field of oil and gas.
