Six booked for torturing tea seller, calling him stool pigeon

SAHIWAL: A tea stall owner was tortured and robbed by six armed men who accused him of being an informer of the Crime Control Department (CCD) regarding their criminal activities at Kameer Town.

The attackers warned him of dire consequences should he continue to share information with the CCD.

Muhammad Waqas, who runs Kharal Tea Stall at Saddar Bazar, Kameer Town, was assaulted late at night by six suspects who stormed his shop.

They allegedly accused him of being a stool pigeon of police and subjected him to physical abuse for informing on their activities.

They also snatched Rs2,500 cash from him and two signed bank cheques worth Rs700,000 each.

The cheques were reportedly taken under threat, with the warning that they would be cashed if he ever disclosed any information to the CCD.

Waqas approached Kameer Police to report the incident.

A case was registered against two identified suspects-Zohaib Lohar and Mohsin Shaikh-and four unidentified per-sons.

ROBBERY: A cattle commission agent was shot and robbed of Rs50,000 near Chak 56/12-L, tehsil Chichawatni, for resisting robbers.

Ramzan, who was returning from the cattle market after selling livestock, was intercepted by three unidentified robbers riding two motorcycles.

The suspects attempted to snatch cash from Ramzan. When he resisted, one of the suspects opened fire, critically injuring Ramzan.

Rescue 1122 shifted the victim to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chichawatni. Okanwala Bangla Police registered a case against unidentified suspects.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons, including a secondyear student, lost their lives in separate road accidents.

In the first incident, a speeding car hit an old man near Yousafwala Adda on the LahoreMultan National Highway.

The unidentified vehicle fled the scene. Rescue 1122 transferred the body of the unidentified deceased to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.

In the second accident, Hamza Ramzan, a resident of Chak 160/9-L, was killed after his car collided with a heavy trailer.

Eyewitnesses stated he was using his mobile phone while driving on the National highway.

Police handed over the body to the victim`s elder brother, Fayaz Minhaj.
