Two children buried alive as brick kiln wall collapses

SUKKUR: Two young children were buried alive under the rubble of a brick kiln wall that collapsed on a group of children playing nearby in Satam Daro village near Rohri town of Sukkur district, it was reported late on Sunday evening.
Residents of the village said that terrified surviving children raised a hue and cry to draw attention of other people to the collapse of wall. They said they rushed to the scene and removed the debris to retrieve the bodies of seven-year-old Irshad, son of Hamza Chauhan, and eight-year-old Shahzadi, daughter of Khuda Bux Chauhan.
They said that the brick kiln had been abandoned several years ago due to its dilapidated condition.
Two bikers killed
Two persons riding a motorcycle were killed when their vehicle was hit by a Shikarpur-bound passenger coach coming from Karachi at Dreha turning near Tamachani town late on Sunday evening.
The victims were identified as Shahzaib and Hafeezullah, both residents of Chak village of Shikarpur district.
The coach driver escaped after the accident leaving behind his vehicle, which was impounded by the Tamachani police.
A post-mortem examination of the bodies was performed at the Sukkur Civil Hospital before they were handed over to the heirs.
