Nine more drug inspectors suspended in Avastin scam

LAHORE: The Punjab government has suspended from service nine more drug inspectors in the light of the Avastin injection scam.
Many of these drug inspectors were serving as drug and deputy drug controllers against BS-18 and BS-19 seats.
Of them, four were working as drug inspectors and the government has directed the officers to immediately report to the primary and secondary healthcare department for further order.
With the Tuesday`s action, the total number of the drug, depute drug controllers and the drug inspectors whose services have been placed under suspension in the light of inquires into the contaminated Avasitin injection reached 20 so far.
The incident had surfaced recently when as many as 86 eye patients complained of low vision when the injection was administered by the doctors across Punjab.
