Free metro travel for differently-abled thru Himmat Card

By Our Staff Reporter 2024-10-04
LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched on Thursday the Himmat Card initiative of her government that will help differently-abled people to commute free on the Orange Line and metro buses of Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.

Speaking on the occasion, she said some 65,000 differently-abled persons will be given Rs10,500 after every three months. She distributed Himmat Cards among the differently-abled persons.

In her speech, she took on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leadership for creating what she said anarchy in the country.

`Those who stop others from doing constructive work and indulge in spreading anarchy and chaos are in fact mentally paralysed,` she said.

`Creating chaos and unrest every other day impedes provision of service to the people.

Those who make the life of people difficult are in fact a burden on our country. They should spend the money on the welfare of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of invading other provinces,` the CM said.

Ms Nawaz said people from KP were doing business in every city of Punjab. Those invading Punjab were in fact attacking their own people. She was talking with reference to the PTI`s Friday protest on D Chowk, Islamabad, where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur would arrive with the party supporters for `independence of judiciary`, release of PTl incarcerated leader Imran Khan and inflation.

`The PML-N government makes sincere efforts for reducing inflation, construction of roads and cleanliness. I monitor and check prices of essential edibles along with cleanliness arrangements daily. In KP the price of bread has gone up to Rs25 and no one cares about it. My heart also beats for the people of KP and other provinces,` she said.
