Enraged family ransacks hospital after woman`s death during child birth

H Y D E R A B A D : Enraged relatives of a female patient ransacked a private charitable hospital run by a religio-political party in Latifabad on Wednesday night followingher death after developing complications from a caesarean delivery.

Terrified hospital staff and doctors ran away to escape the wrath of the enraged family, who had also staged a sit-in outside the facility`s gate along with the coffin.

The patient`s relatives said that Ms Arbia, who was in her early 20s and was brought from Mehar Ali Housing Society to the hospital by her husband Ali for delivery two days back.

She gave birth to a baby girl after C-section operation, but her condition remained unstable aftersurgery and on Wednesday morning doc-tors advised her family to take her to HyderabadCivil Hospital, they said.

Theysaidthattheytookher to Civil Hospital as advised and also arrangedblood but she kept bleeding and finally breathed her last there. They brought back the body to the charitable hospital and started protest outside its gate as they believed their relative had died due to doctors` negligence, they said.

Following the protest, doctors and other staff fled the hospital after locking its main gate.

Later, they ended the protest after police assured them of action against the persons responsible for the patient`s death.

SHO of Latifabad`s B-Section police station, Tahir Mughal, told the protesters that FIR would be lodged after post mortem had been conducted.

Thence, they took the body to Civil Hospital for autopsy and ended the protest.

Police surgeon Dr Waqar said that a doctor from Bhitai hospital conducted the post mortem.
