SUKKUR: Four police martyrs were granted `posthumous promotion` at a ceremony titled `An evening with the families of our fallen heroes` held in the office of the Sukkur DIG on Wednesday evening.

Homage was paid to the four martyrs ASI Mohammad Hassan Kolachi and head-constables Gul Sher Ahmed, Ghulam Rasool Shar and Gul Bahar Sodhro who had laid down their lives in the line of duty while fighting against dacoits in the upper Sindh areas.

The promotion orders and police uniforms, prepared according to their new ranks, were handed over to the heirs.

A documentary on three other martyred policemen constables Hanan Malik, Shafiq Gul and Sami Samoo was screened at the programme.

Sukkur DIG Pir Mohammad Shah had this documentary specially prepared.

Sources in the police department said that by way of the promotion, the martyrs would be given all fringe benefits given to their batch mates of their ranks.

They said that after the Sukkur police range, the other ranges would also follow the same promotion policy.

However, no such official statement was seen in this regard.

Sukkur Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, deputy commissioner and other district and police officials, besides distinguished guests, attended the programme.
