JUI-F threatens sit-ins outside houses of lawmakers

KARAK: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl on Monday threatened to stage sit-ins outside the houses of local lawmakers over poor performance and the alleged misappropriation of oil and gas royalty.

The threat was issued by JUI-F leader Javed Iqbal Khattak while addressing spectators of the final match of football in Thordhand here.

The JUI-F leader said it was unfortunate that the incidence of corruption, nepotism and misuse of royalty funds in the district was on the rise and therefore, his party would agitate against it.

He said if oil and gas royalty funds were not used properly, the people of the district would be on the receiving end.

Khattak alleged that funds were misappropriated through municipal committees and other agencies.

He said a mechanism should be put in place to ensure the transfer of the benent of the funds to the people.

SEED DEALERS WARNED: The district agriculture officer has warned unauthorised seed dealers of action.

He also said the department would crack down on the sale of substandard wheat seeds in the district by making surprise visits to the shops of seed dealers.

According to the relevant officials, the office of the district agriculture officer has received a number of complaints from farmers in the district about the sale of substandard wheat seeds by unauthorised dealers.

They said the district agriculture officer had planned to pay surprise visits to the shops of such dealers as part of crackdown.-Correspondent
