Shuttle bus service for Raiwind congregation

LAHORE: The Lahore Transport Company (LTC), in collaboration with the private transport operators, will start a special shuttle bus service for the participants in the Tableeghi Jamaat`s congregation at Raiwand.
`Minibuses will operate in the first phase from Nov 5 (tomorrow) to Nov 8 from various parts of Lahore to the venue of Ijtima in Raiwind. The service would resume operations for the second phase of the congregation from Nov 12 to 15,` an LTC spokesman said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He said the existing routes have been realigned provisionally for the smooth operation of public transport.
In accordance with plan, minibuses will operate in parallel on two different route alignments. Route 1 will commence from the General Bus StandRailway Station to Raiwind via Dharampura, Canal Road, Muslim Town Morr, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bhobtian Chowk and Muhammad Ali Chowk. The Route No 2 will start from General Bus Stand to Raiwind via Azadi Chowk, Civil Secretariat, Chauburji, Samanabad Morr, Yateem Khana, Thokar Niaz Baig and Bhobtian Chowk.
`The LTC operations department will work in close liaison with the allied departments and transport operators during Raiwand Ijtima,` the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) held a meeting to review all the arrangements for the congregation.
According to a spokesman for the CDGL, the district coordination officer (DCO), in the meeting, directed the departments to complete the repair work on the roads leading to the congregation venue.
