LAHORE: The Lahore Bachao Tehreek (LBT) has written letters to the prime minister, chief justice of Pakistan, chief minister, senior government officials and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, asking them to take notice of the violation of law while executing the Orange Line Metro Train Project.
In the letters, the LBT said since there was no provisionin the Antiquities Act 1975 and the Punjab Special Premises Preservation Ordinance 1985 to launch any project, scheme or carry out construction work within 200ft from locally and internationally recognised heritage sites.
The ongoing construction of the elevated track less than 200 feet from Chauburji and other monuments was illegal. The LBT has also demanded change in the existing route of the Orange Line train in order to save the heritage sites.
