GUJRAT: The Child Protection Bureau (CPB) has taken into protective custody the three children whose father tried to kill them, while attempting suicide, two days ago at a railway track.
The suicide bid of Muneer Hussain of Shadiwal Road was thwarted by some locals with police help on a railway track where he had also brought his three children.
The CPB`s chairperson Saba Sadiq took notice of the matter and directed the bureau`s Gujranwala office to look into the matter.
Explaining his act, Hussain told the CPB officials that he had been seriously ill and could not do any job due to feed his children.
The CPB, with the consent of the ailing father, took his children -Muhammad Asif (11), Kainat (9) and sevenyear-old Talha Muneer -into protective custody and shifted them to the Gujranwala child protection centre.
The CPB officials pledged proper education and food for the children at the government expense.
