FAISALABAD: Khurrianwala police manhandled the women who were protesting against police by placing on the road the body of the man who succumbed to his burns.
On Oct 27, Mazhar of Chak 239 was allegedly put on fire by the family of his alleged girlfriend at Chak 227 Kararwala, Jaranwala Road, in the limits of Saddar police. He had received burns on 30pc of his body and was being treated at the Allied Hospital where he died on Tuesday.
The relatives and neighbours of Mazhar placed his body at the Makkoana Chowk where Khurrianwala police constables reached and used objectionable language against the protesters. They also shoved the females and asked them to remove the body, saying they had nothing to do with the case as the incident had taken place in the Saddar police area.
Tall(ing to reporters, the protesters said Mazhar had gone to meet his girlfriend where her family allegedly put him on fire. They said the police were well aware that before going to hospital, Mazhar had told police who had torched him. However, they said the police were saying that it was a suicide case.
It is pertinent to mention that when Rescue 1122 was shifting Mazhar to the hospital, he told reporters the family of his girlfriend had torched him and the police were trying to save the accused.
The protesters demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ensure justice for them.
