By Our Correspondent 2016-11-04
CHITRAL: The teachers of government schools on Thursday took out a rally here against the registration of cases against their community members over f ailure to follow the police`s recommendations for security arrangements on their respective campuses.

The rally began from the Government High School and ended at the Chitral Press Club.

Jamiluddin, Ziaud Din and Qari Yousuf, who led the rally, complained administrations were being asked by the police to install walkthrough gates, CCTV cameras and LCD lights at schools and hire security guards armed with weapons though they didn`t have budget for it.

They said since the schools were owned by the government, education minister, secretary and director should be booked for poor security checks instead of teachers.

The speakers regretted the police had even forced women teachers working in far-flung areas of the district to visit police stations and courts.

They said the police action was adversely affecting academic activities in schools.

The speakers warned teachers of govern-ment schools across Chitral would go on strike if cases against their community members weren`t withdrawn.

Meanwhile, district nazim Maghfirat Shah has rejected the registration of cases against teachers over poor security checks on campus.

In a news release issued here on Thursday, the nazim said the district government was taking up the matter with the relevant authorities for corrective measure.
