By Tahseen Raza Malik 2017-11-04
MUZAFFARGARH: A cheering crowd welcomed Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan at Kot Addu stadium where he came on Friday for a public address.

Mr Khan in his characteristic outburst railed against the PML-N leaders who, he said, had bled the country dry through loot. `There is no merit in any institution or department of the country and not even the game of cricket has been spared,` he told the PTI workers. He said no one was ready to bring Nawaz Sharif to book.

Finance Minister IshaqDar had stashed national wealth abroad through moneylaundering and now he had declared himself unwell, the PTI chief said.

Citing a model of improvement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said there was no fake FIR in any police station and that he challenged the opposition to prove one such case unlike Punjab where he himself was a victim of fake cases.

He said the KP government had worked hard to rid people of crime and there was 70pc reduction in such incidents. He said Shahbaz Sharif was incapable of improving the Punjab police and change of the uniform was only a cosmetic measure.Mr Khan also berated Maulana Fazlur Rehman and had the crowd in stitches by using the epithet of diesel for him.

`Thousands of children die due to use of contaminated water and power plants at places such as Kot Addu,` he said and promised to rid people of such menaces.

Ghulam Mustafa Khar, who had joined the PTI a few months ago, said Imran Khan could make Pakistan a better place to live.

He thanked Mr Khan for accepting hisinvitation to visit Muzaffargarh and speak to people. Nawabzada Mansoor Ahmad Khan and Sardar Ashraf Rind were among others who spoke on the occasion. Prominent among the participants were Mian Asif Khudai, Malik Abdul Rahman Khar and Muzaffargarh city president Moon Sheikh.

Meanwhile, MNA Jamshed Dasti said there was no doubt Imran Khan was fighting against corruption but he (Dasti) was surprised to see former governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar in the PTI. He said Imran Khan was unaware of the fact that he was being `trapped`. He said he would contest election against Mr Khar.

Sources told Dawn that Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Sheikh Rashid were not happy to see Mr Khar`s influence in the PTI and they did not even speak in Kot Addu and Uch Sharif (Bahawalpur).
