Man dies after falling from thresher

TOBA TEK SINGH: A man died on Sunday after falling from a thresher machine being transported with a tractor near Hasso Balail in Athara Hazari tehsil, Jhang.

Reports said Muhammad Adnan slipped from the machine at a road bump and was struck by a bus following closely. He suffered injuries and was shifted to the Roddu Sultan Rural Health Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

PASSPORT: Passport seekers in Toba Tek Singh can now deposit fees at a second branch of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

Previously, fees could only be deposited at the main branch, leading to long queues daily. Tahir Anwaar, manager of the city NBP branch, confirmed on Sunday that his branch is now authorised to receive passport fees.

OBITUARY: The wife of PTIMPA from Faisalabad Chaudhry Javed Niaz Manj passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness.

She was the sister-in-law of another PTI MPA Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan. Her funeral prayers are scheduled for 6pm on Monday.

APNA GHAR: Former Faisalabad Deputy Mayor Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf, ex-MNA Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari and former MPA Rana Ali Abbas distributed certificates on Sunday to recipients eligible for loans under the `Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar` programme.

Loans are being provided to landowners with one to five marlas of residential plots in the city and one to ten marlas in villages.

HELD: Police and Rescue 1122 teams arrested an alleged robber who jumped into a large waterlogging canal outside Jhang city on Sunday.

Reports say Javed Iqbal Baloch of Sillanwali, Sargodha, had been hiding in crops when police spottedhim, prompting him to leap into the canal. Rescue divers pulled him out. Jhang City Police SHO Shahid Ameer said the suspect was involved in 32 robberies across various districts.

DIES: A motorcyclist died when his scarf strangled him near Adda Soofi Di Khoi on Lahore Road, Jaranwala, Faisalabad, on Sunday evening. Reports stated that Ghulam Murtaza (45) was riding with another person when his scarf became entangled in the bike`s wheel, causing his instant death.

FLEES: A man accused of rape managed to escape police custody in Mianchannu, Khanewal, on Sunday.

Reports stated that the suspect had allegedly rape a child and was under arrest but escaped from Mianchannu city custody. SHO Arsalan Amjad claimed the accused would be arrested shortly and that action is being taken against the ASI responsible for the escape.
