Bank deposits rise 0.2pc

DEPOSITS and > other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,728.993 billion after a 0.20 per cent increase over the preceding week`s figure of Rs11,707.279bn, according to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended Nov 17.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs10,428.839bn, the current week`s figure was higher by 12.47pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,639.118bn against preceding week`s Rs11,617.127bn, showing a rise of 0.20pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs89.875bn, lower by 0.30pc against previous week`s figure of Rs90.153bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,741.981bn, higher by 0.11pc over preceding week`s figure of Rs16,724.007bn and by 19.82pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs13,972.824bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,454.528bn, higher by 0.11pc over previous week`s figure of Rs16,437.25bn,while total assets of specialised banks at Rs287.454bn, were higher 0.24pc over the previousweek`sRs286.757bn.

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,218.023bn, higher by 0.40pc over the preceding week`s figure of 6,193.066bn.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs5,220.159bn, current week`s figure is higher by 19.11pc.

Advances by all commercial banks increased to Rs6,046.018bn from previous week`s Rs6,021.073bn indicating a rise of 0.41pc, whereas advances of specialised banks stood at Rs172.005bn against previous week`s Rs172.053bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 0.38pc to Rs2,829.94bn against previous week`s Rs2,840.946bn. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs1,526.884bn, current week`s figure was higher by 85.34pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,728.315bn were lower by 0.44pc against previous week`s Rs2,740.27bn.

Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs101.625bn against the previous week`sfigure of Rs100.676bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,415.083bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,401.986bn, higher by 0.16pc. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs6,965.525bn, current week`s figure is higher by 20.81pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,324.955bn, higher by 0.14pc against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,312.948bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs90.128bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs89.038bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased over the week and stood at Rs958.064bn against previous week`s Rs961.557bn, showing a fall of 0.36pc.

Current week`s figure increased by 13.33pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs845.377bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs953.176bn, lower by 0.36pc over previous week`s Rs956.661bn. Cash and balances of all specialised banks were lower by 0.16pc at Rs4.888bn against the preceding week`s Rs4.896bn.
