LAKKI MARWAT: Police claimed to have arrested scores of alleged criminals and suspects during a special monthlong campaign in the district.
An official said on Monday the campaign was launched on the instructions of District Police Officer Ali Akbar Shah and commandos of Elite Force and Anti-Terror Squad also assisted the local police.
The law enforcers eliminated the hideouts of hardened criminals and anti-social elements in different parts of the district, he maintained, saying the surprise and planned raids were successful as police captured 41 wanted criminals.
`During raids the cops also rounded up 357 suspects for want of identification and initial interrogation,` he added. He said the law enforcers also seized eight Kalashnikovs, four rifles, 13 shotguns, 38 pistols, 6,560 grams hashish, 5,000 grams opium and a small quantity of heroin from anti-social elements.
