RAWALPINDI: The Holy Family Hospital (HFH) administration reinstalled the shed for patients at the cost of Rs2.1 million and named `Mehman Khana`.
The administration had removed the shed last month.
A senior doctor of the hospital told Dawn that some three years back a philanthropist had donated Rs3 million for the construction of a shed for the attendants of the patients to save them from harsh weather of winter and summer.
However, he said that last month the shed was razed as it was constructed near a mosque which was objected to by senior officials of Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU).
He said in line with the government`s policy to provide shelter to attendants in the hospital, the RMU administration decided to reinstall the shed.
He said that many doctors and attendants objected to this.
When contacted, HFH Medical Superintendent Dr.
Shahzad Ahmed said as the old shelter was damaged and became rusty, we decided to construct a new shelter for the attendants.
`We managed to arrange funds from donations,` he said.
He said that with shifting of the shelter, all the facilities would be available for the attendants at one place.
He said the hospital administration did not spend any money on the project from its own kitty.
