TAXILA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) women wing Taxila and Wah chapter president Medheea Kokab said the government was working on a plan to revive sports at the grassroots level in the area.
She was speaking at a sports kit distribution ceremony organised by the local gymkhana in Wah Cantt on Friday. She said the PTI local wing under the supervision of MNA Mansoor Hayat Khan and MPA Taimoor Masood Akbar would made every possible effort for the patronage of sports and players.
She termed Wah Cantt a key centre of sporting activities and said efforts would be made to make the city a favoured destination and peaceful place for national and international sporting events.
Ms Kokab underlined the importance of sports at the district and tehsil levels and also in educational institutions so that talented players were tapped at appropriate level and provided with proper grooming.
She also called for coordinated efforts to promote sports at all tiers particularly at the grassroots level so that the country may regain its old glory in both regional and international competitions.
