Three killed in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR: Three people were killed and two passerby women injured when an armed group opened fire on a car at Tehkal area here on Wednesday.

According to police, the victims were identified as Malik Arif, 32, and his brother Malik Shehryar, 25, sons of Malik Jahangir, and their friend Mohammad Amin, 44, of Charsadda. The injured women were identified as Ms Yasmeen and her daughter Ainee.

Sources said that Mr Arif, his brother and friend were going in a car (YT-324) to meet someone in Tehkal locality when a group of armed men targeted them. The injured were taken to the Khyber Teaching Hospital.

On the complaint of the victims` relatives the police have registered a case against one Asif of Shahi Bala, Attaur Rehman, Nadeem of Lalazar Colony, and Bilal and Zulfiqar of Nauthia Payan. The police claimed that they had arrested the accused persons and also recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession. They said that cause of the incident was an old enmity. They said that the bodies had been shifted to a local mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police rounded up 199 suspects in the province and recovered arms and ammunition on Wednesday in the ongoing search and strike operation.-Bureau Report
