Authorities asked to make RIUT fully functional

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Caretaker Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Dr Jamal Nasir has asked relevant authorities to complete the work to make Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT) fully functional.

He said that the government would soon fill all vacant posts of doctors, nurses and para medical staff of all four government-run hospitals of the garrison city including Holy Family Hospital (HFH), Benazir Bhutto Hospital, District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.

Dr Nasir and Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi visited all departments of RIU and they reviewed medicalfacilities in detail.

On this occasion, he said that work was being done on an urgent basis to fully activate RIU so that people from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and GilgitBaltistan can be fully benefitted from this health facility.

He said that he will regularly personally review the ongoing work and all medical affairs will be closely monitored as increasing the efficiency of hospitals is one of the top priorities of the interim government of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

He said that after completion of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, thousands of patients will get the facility of kidney and liver transplant. Secretary Health Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that necessary human resources are also being recruited.
