Raids to check sale of smuggled petrol

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The district administration sealed on Saturday seven filling stations for selling smuggled Iranian fuel and using tempered machines for short measuring.
The administration`s stance was rejected by former PTI MPA Asif Majeed who said most of the pumps belonged to his and his family.
RYK Deputy CommissionerMuhammad Salman Khan told Dawn the action was taken on report of marketing of Iranian petrol, overcharging and tempering with gauges.
He said Assistant Commissioner Sarmad ali Bhagat along with officials of Industries, civil defence, revenue and police raided Majeed Brothers, Indus Pump, Rehman Petroleum, Prince Pump, Al Mukhtar Petroleum, Abbasi Petroleum and Taj Pump.The DC further said that Majeed, Rehman and Indus pumps were fined Rs 50,000 and 20,000 while nozzles of Abbasi, Al Mukhtar and Prince were sealed for being tampered with. He said there was no violation by Taj Petroleum.
The DC said he did not know that who owned these pumps but all the samples collected on complaints were sent to Multan to know the petrol was Iranian or not and that it was a routine matter.
