QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has appointed Mir Hamza Zehri as his adviser on local government and urban development.
According to an official notification issued on Tuesday, the newly appointed adviser will hold the status of a provincial minister.
The local government and urban development department was previously headed by Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki, who has now been made the minister for industry.
Prior to this change, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri was overseeing both the industry and agriculture departments.
Mr Zehri is the son of former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, who had joined the PPP and was elected as a member of the Balochistan Assembly in the 2024 elections. The daughter of Nawab Zehri is also serving as a member of the National Assembly from Balochistan.
Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki of the PPP was elected as a member of the Balochistan Assembly in the recent by-election, filling the seat vacated by his father, Sarfraz Khan Domki, following his death.-Staff Correspondent
