PAKISTAN-Iran relations, which were exemplary in the past, need to be restored to their past glory.
Iran deserves all praise as it has never subscribed to the foreign propaganda against Pakistan, nor has it supported our enemies` evilintentionsagainstus.Infactitisoneof the few countries that have stood by Pakistan whenever we have been in need of diplomatic support.
It is beyond one`s ken why Islamabad`s diplomacy has disregarded the importance of developing a close nexus with Tehran that can bring prosperity not only for the two neighbours but the region.
In recent years, Islamabad, despite assurances, has failed to convince Tehran that it would not join the anti-Iran camp. It needsto assert its neutral role in Saudi-Iranian differences and zealously guard its neutrality.
Islamabad must emphasise on Washington in general and Riyadh in particular that winning one friend at the cost of of fending another is not wise policy.
