THIS refers to the letter `Pakistan-US relationship` (Feb 21). The US used Pakistan against the USSR and also in the so-called `war on terror` which the world knows was an excuse for the US to invade Afghanistan with multiple objectives.
One of the objectives was to denuclearise Pakistan by destabilising it, of course, in collaboration with India. Otherwise why on earth is the US stillin Afghanistan even after the death of Osama bin Laden, the so-called mastermind of Sept 11 attacks.
How long should we keep accepting US hegemony and blackmailing on aid? The writer has talked about `focusing on our deteriorating relations with our eastern neighbour`.
Did we ever have cordial relations with our neighbours during the last 70 years? Don`t we have the Kashmir dispute since 1948? Didn`t India attack Pakistan in 1965? Didn`t India attack East Pakistan in 1971 in collaboration with a terrorist group, Mukti Bahini? Isn`t India fighting a proxy war in collaboration with Afghanistan and the US? Hasn`t India played havoc with Pakistan using RAW, killing more than 70,000 innocent Pakistanis, including 142 children at APS, Peshawar? What aboutIndian spy Kulbhushan Yadhav? It makes sense to proactively seek permanent solutions but not at the cost of our principled and just stands on the thorny issues with our eastern neighbours.
