International science moot brings research collaboration opportunities

MULTAN: The three-day international conference on `Light Generation Sensing and Energy Sources` concluded here on Wednesday at the Women University Multan.

At the conference local and international researchers, scholars, teachers and professionals in the field of science and technology from various varsities of foreign countries, including USA, Finland, Canada and Saudia Arabia gave 44 oral presentation and 16 poster presentation, besides participating in talks.

Addressing the concluding ceremony, Women University vice chancellor and chief guest Dr Uzma Quraishi said the science played an important role in polishing creativ-ity and thinking skills of the students.

She said the purpose of research work of national and international scholars was to serve and improve the field of education.

The VC lauded the efforts of ORIC and Department of Physics faculty members for successfully organising the conference establishing research collaboration with national and international researchers.

Conference organiser and research, innovation and commercialisation Director Dr Malka Rani said the conference resulted in agreements for research collaboration with renowned institutes for faculty and students exchange programmes.

She said international researchers appreciated the standards of research in different technical sessions held during the conference.At the end, the VC distributed certificates and cash prizes among poster competition winners. A varsity student, Sunaina Rafiq of Department of Physics won the first position in poster competition. The winners have been offered one year internship programme at SIPE, USA.

The universities that participated in the conference included University of North Carolina Charlotte (USA), London Saud Bank University (UK), Aalto University Espoo (Finland), King Saud University (Saudi Arabia), Lethbridge University (Canada), King Saud university of Minerals and Petrolum (Saudi Arabia), Bahauddin Zakariya University (Multan), Islamia University (Bahawalpur), Mian Muhammd Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Comsats and Lahore College of Women University (Lahore).
