11 robbers` gangs busted

BAHAWALNAGAR: The district police claim to have busted 11 gangs during February and arrested 39 gangsters involved in robberies, recovering Rs10.4m in cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, vehicles, cattle and weapons from them.
District Police Officer Quddus Baig said the weapons recovered from the suspects included 44-borerifles, Kalashnikovs and 29 pistols.
He said the gangs were wanted by not only the district police but also by the police of other districts. He said the recovered loot included stolen cattle, vehicles, mobile phones and cash.
The DPO said the recovered goods and cash were handed over to the claimants during open courts in all parts of the district. He said the police officials worked hard to nab the gangs by using technology as wellas traditional modes of investigation.
Mr Baig said the gangs were a big challenge for the Bahawalnagar police. He said it was basic duty of the police to eliminate crime, establishpeace and order,providejustice to the people as well as protect life and property of citizens. He added that the police would continue doing their job with honesty.
The DPO said the police teams that arrested inter-district dacolt gangs were given certificates and prizes.
