RAWALPINDI: Additional troops deployed along the Pak-Afghan border on March 20 to reinforce security arrangements for ensuring peaceful elections in Afghanistan have been working in coordination with Afghan security forces.

According to an ISPR press release, checking by immigration staff at crossing points and patrolling in areas close to the border have been increased.

All crossing points, the press release said, were closed on Friday and would remain so till the conclusion of polling.

Communication at border coordination centres on both sides has been enhanced and hotline has been set up for contacts between the directorates of military operations of the two countries.

Additionally, aerial surveillance will also be carried out to check any untoward crossborder movement.
