Police martyrs` children to get free education

KOHAT: The Private Schools Management Association (PSMA) has announced to provide free quality education to the children of martyred policemen of Kohat and Hangu districts and give concession in charges to children of many of those in service.

In this regard, a meeting chaired by district police officer Wahid Mehmood was participated by the association`s chairman Haroon Niazi, president Mohammad Shoeb advocate and secretary general Ibraheem Paracha.

The DPO urged them to provide assistance to the children of policeman who had laid down their lives in line of duty and inservice poor policemen. The PSMA agreed to bear all expenses of books, tuition fee, food and other items of the children of the police m artyrs.

It also promised to give concession in fee to the children of the in-service policemen af ter holding a meeting of the principals of all the schools. The DPO also discussed with PSMA security of the institutions and asked them to appoint guards at schools and colleges.

GREEN PAKISTAN DRIVE: The Fata University and Doostan coal company jointly started Clean and Green Pakistan campaign in Darra Adamkhel on Thursday.

The movement was inaugurated by Fata University vice-chancellor Dr Tahir Shah and owner of Doostan coal company Yousuf Nawaz. Speaking on the occasion, the VC stressed that clean environment was essen-tial for survival of humans and protection against diseases. He urged the students to create awareness among the tribesmen of cleanliness through organising walks and other such activities.

GAS BLAST: A man was burnt to death in gas explosion inside a house in Gumbat tehsil on Thursday.

The victim, Asadullah Jan, was lighting the stove for heating water for rinsing his mouth as he felt toothache when blast occurred due to gas leakage inside the kitchen. The whole kitchen collapsed.

He was rushed to the nearby rural health centre where he succumbed to his burn injuries. Other members of the family remained unscathed. Gumbat police have registered the case of accidental death.

WEAPONS SEIZED: Police foiled an attempt of smuggling weapons and ammunition to Punjab from the gun manufacturing Darra Adamkhel tehsil of Kohat and arrested a smuggler on Thursday.

A statement issued here from the of fice of district police officer said that SHO of Mohammad Riaz Shaheed police station was checking vehicles near Kohat tunnel toll plaza on the Indus Highway. It said that during checking 13 pistols, 2,270 cartridges and 22 chargers, which were being carried to Dera Ghazi Khan, were recovered from a car.

The alleged smuggler, identified as Mohammad Imran of Dera Ghazi Khan, was also arrested. An FIR has been filed against him. Correspondent
