SUKKUR: A youth died and his two companions suffered injuries when a speeding sports utility vehicle, reportedly owned by an influential political personality, hit their motorcycle on Military Road within the jurisdiction of A-Section police station late on Thursday night.

Witnesses said that Usman Memon was riding a motorcycle with his two friends as pillion riders when the speeding Vigo hit them. Usman died on the spot and Abdullah and Abdul Ahad sustained critical injuries. The body and the injured were shifted to Sukkur Civil Hospital while the Vigo driver escaped. The deceased Usman was a grandson of Haji Haroon Memon, a well-known trader leader of the city.

Police officials said that they had registered a case on a complaint lodged by the victim`s father against Mukesh Kumar, son of Choat Ram under Sections 279, 427, 320, and 337-G of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at A-Section police station.

The FIR stated that Usman died after being hit by the vehicle (LM5555), while Abdullah and Abdul Ahad were injured at around 1:45 am.

They had taken the vehicle into their custody, said the officials.-Correspondent
