SARGODHA: A nineyear-old boy and a 20-yearold girl were swept away in the strong currents of the River Jhelum in Sargodha.

Rescue teams have launched a search operation.

Sources said Usman Mukhtar, from Veerowal Bhera near Gondpur, went missing in water while bathing in the river.

Similarly, Zainab Bibi, from Sial Mor Room Dhyani, slipped and fell into the river while walking along the river near Chak Mubarak Patan Jhawarian Road.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed and four others injured when a speeding car overturned near the Chenab River Bridge on the Motorway M2 near Kotmomin.

The car, travelling from Chakwal to Lahore, lost control due to high speed and overturned. As a result, Atiqur Rehman and minor FaheemFatima of Chakwal died, while Farnaz Amir, 45, Muhammad Tariq, 50, Khayyam Ali, 16, and Aman Ali, 16, were seriously injured. They were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, PindiBhattian.

KIDNAPPED: A 42-year-old employee of the Cantonment Board of Karachi was kidnapped in Sargodha.

The police registered a case and launched asearch for the culprits.

GANG: The Sajid Shaheed police arrested two members of a motorcycle theft gang in Sargodha and recovered three stolen motorcycles.

The police arrested Dawood, alias Dilawar, and Umair, wanted in multiple theft cases.

The stolen motorcycles, worth Rs250,000, were returned to their owners, while further investigations are underway.

TORTURED: A man was stripped, tortured and robbed by his own brother and his family over a property dispute and a refused marriage proposal in Chak 100 NB.

Sources saidMuhammad Fayyaz, along with his sons Asghar Hayat and Safdar Hayat, wife Razia Bibi, and three accomplices, stormed his brother Liaqat Ali`s house, locked him in a room, stripped him naked andsubjectedhimtosevere torture. They also looted Rs50,000 and threatened to kill him and his family before fleeing.

Saddar police are investigating after receiving Liaqat Ali`s complaint.
