OKARA: A gunman was killed by alleged bullets fired by his two fleeing accomplices in a police encounter.
According to the first information report, the Renala Sadar night patrolling team, led by Inspector Jehan Zeb, was alerted about three armed men who had snatched cash and a motorcycle. The suspects were reportedly heading towards Pul 6/4L `Rajba` on Pir Th Hatti Road.
The team spotted three armed suspects on a motorcycle. When signalled to stop and surren-der, they opened fire. The police took cover and returned fire intermittently. When the suspects` gunfire ceased, the police found one man lying dead on the roadside. He was shot by his own accomplices in the darkness.
The police recovered the snatched motorcycle, an illicit weapon and 13 bullet casings on him. A case under sections 302, 353, 324, and 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with sections 13-2(a) and 20 of the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance 2015, was registered. Correspondent
