LAHORE: The Pakistan Agricultural Services and Storage Corporation (Passco)hasprocured22 per cent of its wheat target for the current year after in the first week of purchase, which started on May 1.
These figures were given in a meeting here on Monday with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R) Sikandar Hayat Bosan in the chair.
Participants learned Passco had distributed 56 per cent of the gunny bags allocated for Punjab, 88 per cent Sindh and 63 per cent of the total target forBalochistan.
Mr Bosan heard the corporation continued disbursement of gunny bags and procurement even during three holidays last weekend, and bought 2.34 million bags of wheat and disbursed 2.25 million gunny bags amongst the growers.
The minister praised the corporation for giving preference to small growers in wheat campaign. He issued special directives that Balochistan farmers should not face any hardships in sellingtheirgrain toPassco.
The minister also announced visiting different field zones of the corporation and visiting its head office again after 10 days to review the proceedings.
