OKARA: A couple, of village 25/2R, jumped into the Lower Bari Doaa Canal on Thursday noon after a quarrel with some family members.

Rescue 1122 sources said Ameer Ali with his pregnant wife Fauzia jumped into the canal at Kot Bar bridge, after a quarrel with his brother and other family members.

Rescue 1122 and police divers were searching for Ameer and Fauzia, who were believed to be dead.

CASE: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) with two other police officials and two unidentified persons was booked on Thursday on the orders of Additional Sessions Judge Naeem Suleman.

Petitioner Kalsoom Bibi, of Sardar Gulzar Park, stated some two months back, ASI Hafeezullah, ConstableShahzad Anjum and driver Asif with two other persons broke into her house and threatened to arresther son,Irfan.

The intruders took away mobile phones and Rs100,000 from the house and later on the police did not register a case into the incident. On the orders of the court, A-Division police registered a case against the five people.

CRASH: Two motorcyclists were killed and five other people injured on OkaraDepalpur Road near village 40-D in a three motorcycles-car pile up.

Zafar and Bashir were riding a motorcycle when near village 40-D, a head-on collision between the motorcycle and a car occurred. Soon, two other motorcycles struck the car. Zafar and Bashir died at the scene while car passengers Jamil, Ahmad Ali, Tahir and motorcyclists Ramzan and other suffered injuries. The injured were shifted to hospital.
