LAHORE: A newly-married woman was killed allegedly by her husband and in-laws in Multan on Sunday.
Police say the victim, Ms Asia (23), a resident of Ghulam Muhammad Wala locality near Multan Central Jail married one Rafiq in December 2024.
She developed differences with her husband and in-laws three weeks ago and started living at the house of her father, Zulfiqar.
Police say that Rafiq, along with his brother and sister-in-law, approached his father-in-law to bring his wife back home, on the pretext of attending the wedding of a relative.
Police say Asia’s father allowed her to go with her husband two days ago.
On Sunday, Zulfiqar received a call from his daughter’s in-laws that she was not feeling well. When he reached his daughter’s in-laws’ house, he found her lying dead on the floor in a pool of blood.
Zulfiqar approached the Old Kotwali police station and lodged a complaint saying his son-in-law Rafiq, his brother Atteiq, mother Shameem, Hafeezan Mai and an unknown person killed his daughter by slitting her throat and wrists.
He alleged that his daughter was bled to death, seeking action against her husband and others allegedly involved in the killing.
The police registered a murder case against four nominated and one unidentified person and started investigation. Gulgashat Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr Saifullah told Dawn that all the four nominated suspects, including two women, were arrested. — Staff Reporter
