KARACHI: The driver of a trailer accidentally ran over and killed a young man, said to be his co-driver, at “China Port” within the remit of the Jackson police station on Sunday afternoon.

Area SHO Mohammed Mithal Shar said Hasan Mir, 26, was asleep under the trailer when its driver started the vehicle without realising someone was sleeping underneath. The man died on the spot.

He said that the driver managed to escape from the scene, leaving behind the vehicle that was impounded by the police.

The body was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

An Edhi Foundation official said that the victim was a co-driver of the same heavy vehicle. He originally hailed from Landi Kotal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
