KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead in an `encounter` in Korangi on Sunday, according to police.
Korangi police SHO Adeel Afzal said three suspects riding a motorcycle snatched a cell phone and other valuables from a citizen. As the accused were fleeing, the robbery victim informed the patrolling police party of Gharib Nawaz checkpoint.
The police chased the suspects and in an ensuing exchange of firing, one suspect was killed on the spot while another, who got injured, succumbed to injuries during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Third one was arrested in a wounded condition.The killed suspects were identified as Sikander and Riaz Ali while the injured as Zakir Usman.
The officer said Sikander had a past criminal record.
The police claimed to have recovered two pistols, one motorcycle and the snatched cell phone of the citizen from their custody.
Woman `dies by suicide` in Baldia Town home A woman was found shot dead in her Baldia Town home on Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Shahnaz Kamran, 35, and said that her family told them that she took her own life by shooting herself in the head.
The police said they were investigating the family`s claim.
The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
