Man who shot two dead in courtroom killed in `encounter`

GUJRAT: The suspect involved in killing at least two people and injuring as many others in a Gujranwala courtroom on April 29, was killed in an `encounter` with the police`s crime control department (CCD) near Ladhewala Warraich village on Sunday.
Police say a team of Civil Lines police team was taking the suspect, Azan Abdul Razzaq to a place for identification to arrest his accomplices in the courtroom shooting incident in Aroop police precincts.
However, when the police party reached near Gondlanwala canal, Azan`s armed accomplices Attae Rabbi and others allegedly intercepted their vehicle and snatched the suspect from them. Meanwhile, a team of CCD also arrived at the scene.
The CCD team started chasing the fleeing suspects who opened fire on them. The police returned the fire. After a crossfire between the two sides, that continued for at least 10 minutes, the firing by suspects stopped.
The police searched the area and found the body of Azan. Police say further investigation is underway.
On April 29 the last, Azan had shot two relatives, Ali Butt and Saqib Butt, dead and injured as many other persons in a courtroom in Gujranwala.
