LAHORE: Domestic sales of cement increased while exports decreased in May 2014 compared to the corresponding month last year.
According to the data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), despatches to domestic markets increased by 9.86 per cent to 2.309 million tonnes compared to 2.102m tonnes in May 2013 while exports decreased by 3.4pc to 759,000 tonnes from 785,000 tonnes (YoY).
Total despatches during May 2014 stood at 3.068m tonnes compared to 2.887m tonnes during the same month last year, showing an increase of 6.3pc.
The data showed that during the first 11 months of current fiscal year, cement sales stood at 23.6m tonnes in local markets, showing growth of 3.3pc compared to despatches at 22.8m tonnes in the same period last year.
Exports declined by 3.4pc to 7.4m tonnes compared to exports at 7.7m tonnes, during the first 11 months of the previous year. The overall situation during first 11 months of current fiscal year showed a growth of 1.7pc compared to the same period of last fiscal year as total despatches increased to 31.05m tonnes against 30.5m tonnes from July 2012 to May 2013.
