PDWP approves Rs7.3bn projects

PESHAWAR: The meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by additional chief secretary Dr Hammad Owais Agha, on Thursday approved 16 projects worth Rs7.35 billion.

The meeting was attended by respective administrative secretaries and officials of the relevant departments. It considered 18 projects of energy and power, higher education, sports, environment, local government, public health engineering and communications sectors.

The meeting approved a number of projects, including establishment of Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak and Government Girls Degree College at Shabqadar, Charsadda; construction of sports complex at sub-tehsil Rustam in Mardan; development and management of national parks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; establishment of emergency rescue services (Rescue 1122) in Nowshera, Katlang and Rustam; and enhancement of rescue services (Rescue 1122) in Peshawar and Mardan.

Other schemes include clearance of cheques issued to government contractors; providing solar system for water supply schemes and emergent nature works in Governor`s House, Peshawar and Nathiagali; feasibility and design survey of building for Gagra tehsil, Buner; widening and rehabilitation of road from Bannu-Kohat Road to Indus Highway via Dhoda Golf Club, Kohat; rehabilitation of road from Gulshanabad Chowk Jarma Bridge via Hangu Pattak, Kohat; and construction of Swat Motorway (land acquisition).-APP
