TAXILA: Spectators and parents gave applause to students at the concluding day of a swimming festival held at the Heavy Industries Taxila Education City on Thursday.

The students in the age group of 10 and 18 years showed their skills in different swimming competitions such as diving, 50 metres, 100 metres race and water polo matches. Khalid house lif ted the title of water polo champions.

Heavy Industries Taxila chief Lt-Gen Syed Wajid Hussain, who was the chief guest on the occasion, awarded medals and trophies to the winning players.

Speaking on the occasion, he said students should participate in the sports activities which not only groomed their personality but also equipped them with courage, confidence and sportsmanship besides helping them in character building.

He said that after observing the active participation and skills of the students, it may be said that these students would also excel in their higher studies as well as professional lives.
